Finance Associate

We are looking for a well organised, proactive and focused individual to join our growing Finance team, playing a key role in supporting the finance team in day-to-day accounting tasks, including data entry, invoice processing, reconciliation, and other administrative duties. This role is ideal for someone with basic accounting knowledge and excellent organisational skills, who is looking to work in an environment which supports continuous professional development. Ideally the candidate will look to study towards a professional qualification in finance / accounting (ACA, ACCA or similar).

Saltus is an independently owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.

What will I be doing?

The Finance Associate will:

  • Support in the preparation of management accounts – including ownership of specified control account reconciliations
  • Oversee the purchase ledger including maintaining purchase workflow from ordering to invoicing to approval, processing, general ledger entry and payment
  • Support the business treasury function including monitoring and posting of detailed bank transactions on day-to-day basis, assisting with wider cashflow strategy and placement of funds in deposit accounts
  • Monitor business expenditure and track and report any variances to budget
  • Raise various sales invoices and reconcile fees taken in Curo, our business CRM system
  • Undertake ad hoc reporting and analysis tasks

 

Who are you looking for?

Essential

  • AAT Level 4
  • Minimum 2:1 degree with a numerical background (STEM/ Statistics)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Be able to work as part of a team and work from the Whiteley office when required

Desirable

  • A or A* Mathematics A-Level
  • Experience in working in a financial function with knowledge of accounts payable and bank reconciliations
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
  • Excellent Excel and analytical skills. Able to work with and analyse large datasets
  • Knowledge and use of the Microsoft Power Platform, in particular Power Query
  • Financial services or wealth management industry experience

 

Where will I be working?

We are looking for someone to work from our Whiteley office, and offer hybrid working, which includes 2 days in the office, with the remainder at home. We’re incredibly flexible about when and how you work: we don’t want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they’re looking for. What benefits do I get when working for Saltus?

The salary is £26,000 – £29,000 depending on experience, alongside 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), life assurance, income protection and a pension, alongside access to our flexible benefits platform. Relevant exam support after the successful completion of a probationary period.
