Data Migration Associate

We are seeking a meticulous and ambitious Data Migration Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for data quality. Saltus is a privately owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.

Saltus Partners was founded in 2004 and has grown organically and through a small number of carefully integrated acquisitions. Originally the business started out as an investment manager and has now developed the financial planning side of the offering, putting this at the forefront of the client relationship.

What does this role look like?

The role is part of the Data team and the key areas of responsibility are as follows:

  • Responsible for cleansing the data to remove duplicates, incomplete data, or inconsistencies.
  • Extracting the data from the source system, applying any necessary transformations or formatting, and preparing it for loading into the target system. This may involve data conversion, standardisation, or normalisation.
  • Conduct thorough testing to verify the accuracy and integrity of the migrated data. This includes comparing the source and target data sets to ensure consistency and identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Also need to verify the accuracy and completeness of the migrated data by running validation tests and comparing the data with the original data.
  • Also need to perform data normalisation to ensure that the data is consistent across all systems.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of the migration process, including the migration plan, data mappings, transformation rules, test results, and any issues encountered during the migration.
  • After the data migration is complete, will assist in the post-migration activities, including data validation, troubleshooting any data-related issues, and providing support to end-users.

Technical competencies/Skillsets desired:

  • Has an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Has a working knowledge of Databases/SQL
  • Has some experience using data visualisation tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • Has high attention to detail and able to notice patterns and trends in data
  • Thrives on problem solving and able to suggest solutions
  • Can manage tasks simultaneously, be involved in exciting new projects whilst delivering work on time
  • Can communicate effectively and be comfortable communicating ideas to people at all levels across the firm
  • Can distil a complex problem into a workable solution and implement it
  • Willing to continuously learn and implement new skills and as well as understanding the latest technologies

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a similar role
  • A BSC in Computer Science or an equivalent analytical/numerate subject
  • Be an ambitious tech advocate who is keen to take advantage of abundant opportunities for personal achievement and to accelerate their career within a leading wealth management form
  • Commercial hands-on experience of using SQL to solve complex business requirements
  • Experience of using data visualisation tools such as Power BI
  • Be passionate about collaboration and influencing peers and junior engineers
  • Excellent communication skills and be comfortable communicating complex ideas to people at all levels across our business

Knowledge of the following with be advantageous:

  • Azure data factory
  • Power Apps

 

Where will I be working?

We are looking for someone to be based out of our Whiteley or Bath office, and offer hybrid working, which includes 2 days in the office, with the remainder at home. We’re incredibly flexible about when and how you work: we don’t want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they’re looking for. What benefits do I get when working for Saltus?

The salary is up to £33-42,000 depending on experience, alongside 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), life assurance, income protection and a pension, alongside access to our flexible benefits platform. The role is 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8.30-5.30pm.
